Yep, you read that right, lipsticks made of such healthy ingredients you could almost eat them! The Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks* are made from natural, healthy, edible ingredients that make these lipsticks safer to wear. They also contain nutrient-rich pure plant oils mean these lipsticks actually condition as they colour. They sound perfect right? They’ve recently released some beautiful new summer colours to the range as well.

About Antipodes
Antipodes is an innovative, scientific and organic beauty brand. Their New Zealand founder, Elizabeth Barbalich, built the skincare and makeup company on a combination of the highest quality ingredients from New Zealand nature and raw super-fruit extracts, using science and innovation to produce high-tech certified organic and premium formulations. They have a huge range of skincare products as well as makeup, including foundation and lipsticks.

About the Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks
So a fun fact for you: Antipodes reckon that over the course of a lifetime, a woman can ingest as much as three kilograms/seven pounds of lipstick into her body, absorbing it through the skin of the lips, or swallowing it when eating or drinking. How disgusting it that? So Antipodes formulated these lipsticks with ingredients that are not only safe to consume but are actually healthy as well. The lipsticks are certified vegetarian by the UK Vegetarian Society, but are not vegan, as they use an beeswax which is an animal by-product, which they say is a sustainable ingredient from “lovingly-kept bees”.

Ingredients in Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks
Antipodes Moisture-Boost Natural Lipsticks use healthy ingredients, including some of nature’s finest superfoods, and all the ingredients are from natural origin, with only low levels of FDA-approved colour pigments added for vibrancy.
The lipsticks feature ingredients like:
- avocado oil which helps to increase collagen production and keep lips dewy and fresh;
- calendula oil which is a healing oil from the marigold flower and has anti-inflammatory properties;
- evening primrose oil which is rich in healthy fats;
- argan oil to balance oil production and hydrates lips for a soft, moisturising finish;
- beeswax with antibacterial properties;
- shea butter and jojoba oil for moisturising; and
- vitamin E for extra lip nourishment.

Packaging
The Antipodes lipsticks come in colourful floral printed boxes. Inside there is a matte black tube, with Antipodes branding in white, writing that says “I’m so healthy,” then when you remove the lid, the top half is shiny black and the text continues with “you could almost eat me”, which I think is a nice touch. The lipstick bullet is a typical bullet shape, curving up into a rounded point on both sides.

Performance of Antipodes Lipsticks
The lipstick is sheer on application whilst still being pigmented. It gives a semi-opaque colour on the lips and is quite subtle, but definitely buildable if you like it brighter. It felt so comfortable I couldn’t feel it was on, my lips felt moisturised and not at all dry. They didn’t last completely whilst eating, but I wouldn’t expect that from a lipstick that isn’t fully matte. It re-applied really easily with no pulling or flaking etc. They are so lovely to use.

Swatches of Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks
I have the shades from top to bottom: Piha Beach Tangerine, South Pacific Coral and Forest Berry Red.

Overall
These are really lovely lipsticks that have the best story behind them. You can’t really ask for much more in a lipstick than it to be safe and healthy to use, whilst still giving an amazing colour pay off! I will definitely be using these a hell of a lot this summer.
