Exploring hidden gems of Nottingham with Snizl | #Snizl4Notts event

I was lucky enough to be invited on a fab crawl of Nottingham’s hidden gems hosted by the lovely guys from Snizl, a company supporting and showcasing what local businesses have to offer.

A night in the company of my fave Notts bloggers, I couldn’t refuse such an offer! We were taken on a tour to 4 different places in Nottingham that weren’t widely known and the welcoming staff showed us what they had to offer.

First of all we went to the Pudding Pantry, followed by makeup boutique CaBella, then to Weavers Wines and finished at cocktail bar 400 Rabbits.

Pudding Pantry

Pudding Pantry is a cute little quaint cafe in Trinity Square that is dedicated to home baking and sweet goods. Now that’s my kinda place! I have such a sweet tooth and I can’t believe I’d never visited there before!

It has fairy lights strung along the windows, low lighting, tea cups gracing the shelves and a huge display of cake lining the counter. It was instagram perfection!

We were greeted with a salted caramel brownie freakshake and a banana cake topped with cinnamon icing and oh my life they were both delicious! I will definitely be going back for more freakshakes!

If you don’t know what a freakshake is, it’s a milkshake topped with copious amounts of whipped cream and any kind of baked good you can imagine – brownies, donuts, sauce, popcorn, you name it you can get it on a freakshake.

The cake was of perfect consistency and the icing was so creamy and rich I don’t usually like cinnamon but my gosh this was delicious.

CaBella

CaBella is a makeup boutique down Bridlesmith Walk (the alley way next to LOccitaine FYI, I know I’ve never been down there either!) They specialise in makeup masterclasses and makeovers, LVL Lash applications and also sell the makeup they recommend and use on clients. I didn’t even know this place existed.

We were greeted with a glass of prosecco whilst exploring the beautiful and girly boutique. They even have a sparkly gem encrusted till, you can’t get girlier than that! Then we all gathered round for a makeup masterclass by the lovely girls and makeup experts Dannica and Jordan.

The lovely Sherry (Sherry Scribbles) and I

Dannica was explaining every step of the makeup she was putting on Jordan who had half a face of makeup so we could see how it was done! She talked us through every step of her makeup routine and explained how to apply makeup properly for a long lasting face. I definitely learnt a few tricks of the trade I didn’t know before!

They use a mixture of drugstore and higher end products – a Milani primer, with Loreal True Match Foundation, MAC eye shadows, Max Factor mascara, Milani Blusher, LA Girl concealer, and the Sleek Solstice Palette highlighter. A fab mix of affordable products! I really want the LA Girl concealer and the Milani primer now and I am dying to try Loreal True Match!

Weavers Wines

Next we moved on to Weavers, which is a independent wine merchant on Castle Gate Nottingham. They have their shop where they sell their wine, and further down the road, which from the street you would think is just a house, they have another building where they hold their events like wine tasting.

The room we were lead to was an old style living room with a roaring fireplace where they had wine glasses out ready for us to taste. I tried the first glass of sparkling white wine called Cremant Du Jura and oh my it was the nicest tasting sparkling I have ever tasted it was delicious. We also sampled white and red before being taken down several flights of stairs into the wine cellar!

From the street you wouldn’t even know that there were cave like floors below, housing a multitude of bottles of wine. It was such a cool experience being taken down the steep stairs and viewing all of the bottles they had on display.

Weavers host wine and champagne testing events both in the other building and in the shop together with wine and cheese events where they team up with another local cheese shop.

400 Rabbits

A quirky little cocktail bar (that replaced Plan B for any of you Nottinghamer’s that remember drunken nights of £1 shots) down Hurts Yard opposite Cucamaras just off the Market square.

It’s a small venue with decor every where you look which gives the bar such a fab vibe. The charismatic staff really care about the drinks they serve and this shows in their enthusiasm and knowledge of Tequila, their speciality drink.

They don’t just serve tequila though, and have a car bonnet attached to their ceiling with an attached tap that delivers jasmine soaked gin. Yep you read it right, gin from a car bonnet.

They made one of their tequila cocktails in super size for us all to try and served sangria and mocktails to everyone, followed by several shots of various types of tequila!

Upstairs they also have a Sega Mega Drive which I didn’t get to see but sounds like a fun night out, especially for the boys! They have happy hour most days and are open til 1am most days.
