The holy grail of makeup application has long been held by Beauty Blender who were the OG of the base applying world since they first created the pink sponge.
Beauty Blender changed the face of the makeup world and to me there is no other way to apply your foundation that works as well as using a blending sponge.
They recently celebrated 15 years, so I thought I’d do a Beauty Blender appreciation post along with some tips on how to clean your pink sponge.
Beauty Blender kindly sent me an original pink Blender* along with a deluxe sample of their Blender Cleanser* to try. I’ve never tried the cleansing solution before so I was excited to give it a go!
Beauty Blender first created the blending sponge in luminous pink, but have since released a variety of colours such as nude, “Chill” as well as miniature sponges for more defined areas.
The blenders are a tear drop shape with a pointed end – use the bottom of the tear to perfect the flawless base and the point fits neatly under the eyes to smooth down concealer.
To use your Beauty Blender (just in case you didn’t know) wet it under the tap and squeeze out the excess water as damp works best for a flawless finish.
They don’t only do sponges either – with a range of blender cleansers and tools to make makeup application easier they’ve expanded rapidly in the past 15 years!
Cleanser wise they have a solid cleanser and a liquid cleanser which is the one I’m here to talk about today.
Cleaning your Beauty Blender can be a bit of a task, as foundation gets inevitably soaked into the sponge which can be unhygienic. It’s especially important to keep it clean as often as possible if you suffer from acne or blemishes. I spot clean mine on a bar of soap daily and deep clean it once a week.
Cleaning the Beauty Blender using the Blender Cleanser is super easy. Dispense a 5 pence amount of liquid onto the sponge whilst wet and massage in until it lathers. Do this for a good 30 seconds to ensure you’ve given it a thorough clean and then rinse.
The Blender Cleanser has a very non-scent which means it won’t affect sensitive skin when you go to use your blender post-clean. The formula gets rid of makeup stains and kills bacteria whilst being gentle enough to maintain the integrity of the sponge. You can also use it for makeup brushes too!
You can buy Blender Cleanser for £15 for 150ml or £23 for 295ml which will last you a long whilst as you don’t need much for it to get to work. Beauty Blenders are £16 to buy and last a long time so are worth the investment! I probably go through 2-3 makeup sponges a year.
