Foolproof and fake tan don’t usually go hand in hand for me, and I’ve had my fair share of tanning disasters. That was until I discovered Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan. I never thought I’d find a fake tan that’s easy, quick and looks good. But I have. So I had to share it with you.
Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan
The Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan is pretty self explanatory; it’s a fake tan in mousse form, which comes in a 150ml bottle with a pump lid. It has a non-greasy formula and contains Sweet Almond Oil and Vitamin E, to help leave skin feeling soft and smooth.
Applying the Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan
Make sure you start with a shower and an exfoliation. I put this on before bed so I can avoid any chance of it being ruined, so I have a shower and get ready for bed to make sure I can get straight into bed when it’s dry! Nothing worse than a toothpaste spillage or having to wash your hands ruining your freshly applied tan!
You have to get a mitt separately, and I would recommend using a good thick one to ensure a proper application. I used this Superdrug one for a good few applications here* but it didn’t last forever, and I now use this one from Beauty Bay here* which is really velvetty and soft.
So to apply, I pump the mousse onto my mitt and start rubbing it onto my skin, making sure I don’t spread it too far and you get a good coverage. It applies so smoothly and as long as you’ve rubbed it in properly, I’ve never had any streaks whatsoever.
I probably use four pumps per leg, three on the arms, three for my chest and neck and two on my upper back (I don’t bother with my tummy or lower back cos lol they ain’t being put on show). If you happen to have to wash your hands after applying, so do carefully and then re-rub your hands with the dirty mitt you used before to even it out again but you don’t need to put more on.
Drying time of the Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan
I give it about 20-30 minutes to fully dry (this is where I sit at my dressing table scrolling through social media) before getting into bed. It says you can leave it for up to 4 hours, but I don’t have this kinda time in the day to block out for tan development, so I leave it on overnight.
Now this is the only thing that annoys me about this tan – it stains the bed sheets, especially around where my shoulders sit. So I cover my pillow with an old towel and if it’s too hot to wear pajamas, I use an old fleece blanket to cover my duvet so it doesn’t stain. My sheets always stain but tend to come out in the wash. My best friend who I got into loving this tan as much as me, says it doesn’t stain her sheets at all, so maybe I’m just a rough sleeper!
Results of the Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan
The next morning I wash off my tan and watch as the lovely bronze pours down the drain (such a heartbreaking moment!) But when you get out the shower you’re left with a lovely subtle but noticeable colour. It’s just like you’ve had a tan from the sun – not at all patchy and it doesn’t rub off. It looks so natural! You also don’t get that strong tan/biscuit smell, it’s a very faint tan smell for the following day but it’s barely noticeable. I think it may be worse the next day than when you apply it though which is odd!
Removal of the Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan
Here’s the best part, you don’t have to do anything with this. It just fades naturally, no scrubbing required. You genuinely can’t even tell you’ve ever had it on it just literally fades away. Such low maintenance it’s the best thing for lazy girls like me!
Buy the Superdrug Solait Mousse Tan
The other good thing about this, is that it costs less than a fiver! It’s only £4.99 and is often on offer. You can get it here.*
