The best liquid lip kit? | Barry M Matte Me Up Liquid Lip Kit in Go To

If you follow my blog you will know I had a not so good experience with another drugstore lip kit recently, so when Barry M released their version not long after, I didn’t get one straight away as I wanted to wait for other reviews to see how others got on.

Safe to say I didn’t read one bad thing about them and as they are apparently limited edition I took the plunge and made a little order. I only got the one colour to be sure I’d like it before deciding to get any others.

I purchased the colour Go To which is a brown nude colour and it comes with a lip liner and a liquid lipstick. I’ve given it a good road test and I am now primed and ready to give you a good review on how it performs.

Packaging

The kit comes in a thin box the same colour as the lip kit inside with black writing and a heart shaped mouth with liquid lipstick drips. The lip liner is a  matte soft textured all black pencil with the lip colour at the very end and embossed with silver writing.

The liquid lipstick itself is a clear tube with the black writing along it with a matte black wand tip. Overall I like the packaging I think it looks sleek and sets itself part from others.

Application

The lip liner is a pencil rather than a wind up and it appears quite dry and sharp but on application it glides on so nicely and easily allows you to create a sharp line around the edge of the lips.

The liquid lipstick applies with an angled doe foot applicator  and I found this was really easy to use. The angled tip means there is no mess and you can follow the lip line with ease.

Formula

The liquid is a thin consistency which means a little goes a long way and it’s really easy to properly fill the lips. It isn’t at all cakey nor is it thin enough to drip anywhere other than where you want it go to.

Colour

Go To is a gorgeous cool toned brown nude and goes with everything! Both the liner and the liquid are a perfect match. At first the liquid applies lighter but dries darker to mirror the liner.

Wear

This honestly feels so comfortable on the lips you can’t even tell it’s there! It isn’t at all drying or flakey.

It lasts a long time but after eating it needs a little re-application which re-applies so nicely and doesn’t get cakey even with a second coat.

I wore this to work so applied at 7.30am and after breakfast it was still in tact but after lunch I needed a top up. The next day instead of re-applying I added some lip balm and it revived the colour and left my lips looking creamy and feeling moisturised so this is really a versatile lip product!

With or without lip liner?

I tried the liquid lipstick with and without the lip liner and I think it applies and lasts much nicer with the lip liner. Barry M sell other colours in just the liquid lipstick and I don’t think I’d buy these as without a matching lip liner I just don’t think it sits on the lips or lasts as well at all.

Price

These are priced at £6.99 in both Boots and Superdrug and are really affordable considering you get both a lip liner and a liquid lipstick. I really hope the rumours aren’t true that these are limited edition!

Overall

I definitely want to get another one of these as it is honestly the most comfortable liquid lipstick I’ve worn from the drugstore and it lasts so well. I’ve had so many compliments on this when I’ve worn it as well!

Have you tried any of these from Barry M? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below!
