I’ve been lusting after this mascara ever since I saw it featured on Kathleen Lights’ YouTube, but it was only available in America for what felt like the longest time.
I went into Boots a few times to see if it was there and to ask when it might arrive to be told it was a secret and they weren’t allowed to give out any information!
As soon as it launched I was eager to get my hands on it and me and my blogging gals were each looking out for it for each other.
I nipped into Superdrug on the off chance it was in stock and found a whole stand of them and even better they were on offer at 3 for 2.
I have given it a good test drive and I’m ready to review it!
The description of this mascara on the Boots website is:
Take your lashes to paradise with intense volume and spectacular length. The Ultra-Soft brush coats lashes with a silky smooth formula; enriched with lash-loving castor oil. Lashes feel feather-soft; without any flaking.
So does it live up to it’s claims?
PACKAGING
The packaging is a rose gold metallic tube with a shiny rose gold wand handle. The name of the mascara is printed in white dots along the tube.
This is unlike any packaging I’ve seen in the UK drugstores.
The UK packaging is different to that of the US but this is normal for the different markets.
WAND
The wand is a soft bristle brush with a slight hourglass shape. The bristles are short and densely packed together.
Soft bristles are my favourite kind as I think it creates much better results than a plastic wand.
FORMULA
The formula is the perfect consistency – not to wet that it doesn’t set and not too dry that it doesn’t coat everywhere.
I experienced no flaking whatsoever when applying or when it had been on for a little while.
Colour wise they only have “black” at the moment but this is the perfect level of colour for me.
APPLICATION
The wand applies beautifully to the lashes – the bristles cling to each lash and separates them whilst volumising at the same time.
One coat creates a nice subtle lash and you could definitely get away with just one but I applied two more as I like my lashes voluminous!
It really makes your eyes look open and framed with lovely lashes.
DUPE?
As soon as I saw the packaging of this I knew it reminded me of another popular high end mascara and having seen other bloggers say the same, I knew I had to try it for myself.
The packaging is similar, and the wand is almost identical to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.
I put it to the test and used L’Oréal on one eye and Too Faced one on the other. The Better Than Sex separated my lashes better on the first application but after applying more coats to both, the results were exactly the same!
The left is Loreal and the right is Too Faced.
The L’Oréal mascara produced the same results as Too Faced for almost half the price of the high end option.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m really enjoying this mascara the results are fab! It’s great for the price which is currently at £9.99 as an introductory price going up to £11.99. I will definitely be re-purchasing this once mine runs out!
