Things I love about Autumn

Being here in the Bahama’s this year is the first time in my 26 years that I won’t be in England to experience the wonder that is autumn, or fall, for my friends my side of the pond.

I absolutely adore summer with it’s sunshine and warmer weather, hence why I’m here in the Bahamas, but there is something special about Autumn that I just can’t help but love.

So I definitely feel a pang of jealousy seeing all of the Autumn related posts on social media, especially as even autumn inspired home-ware is few and far between here, and I will miss being a part of the nice thing autumn brings.

CANDLES

Luckily they do have candles here, and some autumn inspired scents at that, but it’s a generic Yankee-esque that just isn’t fulfilling my craving for buying thousands of B&M Bargains answer to Bath and Body Works. I managed to find the last autumn candle in the shop, cinnamon pecan swirl, and this candle is the only autumn thing I have so please enjoy the thousands of photos I took of it!

COSY JUMPERS

The change in season means a change in wardrobe and it gets me so excited to go into Primark in search of the latest knitwear. Not having the weather to need jumpers is one thing, but the lack of Primark is another. I’m missing that badly already!

BLANKETS

Getting snuggled up and cosy with fluffy tartan blankets is the epitome of autumn and they also make amazing blog props. I barely have the need for pyjamas let alone blankets and the chance of finding a nice patterned number is slim to none.

SCARVES

The array of tartan scarves I had to leave behind breaks my heart as you never saw me without one in England. As you can probably already tell, there is zero need for scarves here, so yeah, I’m a little bit sad about that!

CRISP AUTUMN WALKS

The drop in temperature means that a Sunday morning walk is a special sight to behold as the low sun shines on the leaves falling freshly on the ground. The only falling off trees that we get here are coconuts and old palm tree leaves that come off in huge big strips!

BLOG PROPS

Everybody’s Insta’s are turning so autumnal and I don’t have the access to any pretty things to make my grid match and that upsets me a little bit! I’m off to Miami in October so I’m hoping that I can pick up some bits there.

PUMPKINS

I’m very grateful that there are an abundance of Starbucks here so I can get my Pumpkin Spice fix (even if it is the Frappucino version as I can’t hack a hot latte in this heat) but there’s a distinct lack of pumpkins here, except for at the expensive shop where they’re upwards of $17 (about £15) which is super steep compared to the £2 ASDA ones back home.

So autumn is going to be a bit different for me this year, and whilst I love where I am, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness for the autumn traditions back home.

What are your favourite things about autumn/fall? I’d love to know in the comments below!
