UK vs. USA – The L’Oreal Paradise Extatic / Lash Paradise Mascara

Ever wondered whether a product released in the UK is the same as it’s counterpart in the US? Yeah, me too. Everyone always assumes that the US version will automatically be better, so I wanted to do a performance test between a product that has not only been packaged differently, but has been named differently too. One of the newest L’Oreal mascara’s last year was the Extatic Lash as it was known in the UK or Lash Paradise in America.

Both were named differently depending on which country it was sold in, and even had different packaging, so I was intrigued to see if they performed differently or not. Both are meant to be a great drugstore dupe for Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (find out if it is here). I managed to pick up the Lash Paradise whilst I was in America at the end of last year and I’ve been putting them to the test recently.

The UK version was named Paradise Extatic, whilst the US version was named Lash Paradise. I don’t know about you, but I much prefer the US name over the UK. Paradise Extatic doesn’t have the same nice ring to it!

Winner – USA

The UK version is a matte dull burnt salmon colour with a mirrored rose gold wand handle and joined white dots forming the name of the mascara. The US version is a pretty baby pink matte with black text and a gold ring around the top of the tube. Simple, yet pretty.

I think the winner here is clearly the USA.

Both wands are exactly the same on both the UK and the US version, so no comparison can be made.

This is where I was surprised about the difference. The UK version applied much better than the US version which was clumpy and didn’t apply as well and the formula deteriorated quicker, whereas the UK version applied well all the way through. On a side by side comparison, the ingredients are slightly different, which will be to do with the laws of each country and what they are and not allowed to use.

Winner – UK!

Lasting power

The US version flaked, smudged and disappeared a lot faster and more frequently than the UK version which lasted longer on my lashes.

Winner – the UK.

Overall Winner

It’s been a pretty much half and half throughout, and whilst the US version has a nicer name and prettier packaging (and looks nicer on the dressing table) ultimately the most important thing here is the way it performs and lasts, so I have to give it to the UK here which I wasn’t expecting I would!

Have you tried both formulas before? Let me know your thoughts below!

Thanks for reading!

I am so pleased you wrote this post, I had been wondering the same thing myself. I purchased a tube of Lash Paradise and I really love it (apart from the pink coating of the tube peeling off). I purchased it online from a NZ site but funnily enough, NZ shops sell Paradise Extatic. I really like the mascara and will buy it again so I wonder if the next tube I buy will be any different from my current one xx

Great post soph – I wish I could have done this post when I got back from honeymoon last year but left it too long and they dried up 😂😂
Totally agree – the US name and packaging is so much better! X
