Birchbox x Skinnydip November box 

This month Birchbox has teamed up with popular sassy handbag and accessory brand Skinnydip to collaborate on a box.

Skinnydip designed the box and the contents are business as usual, mainly beauty with a mix of skincare and makeup.

The box is a deep purple with ombre blue and purple sea shells in rows, apart from a gold one above the branding, also in gold.

So can I just address the issue I have with this box – it’s a collaboration with Skinny Dip – why is there nothing by SD in here? Not even a makeup bag or even one of their plushie stickers?!

The picture Birchbox used to advertise the box showed a phone case amongst other things – is it too much for me to expect that a phone case would be included? Talk about false advertising! They gave us a voucher but you still need to spend £24 in order to use your £10 off.

Also, other subscribers were given the opportunity to ‘upgrade’ to pay an extra £4 to receive a clear phone case with shells on. I was given no such opportunity but I’m glad I didn’t because I hear it’s rubbish!

Anyway, rant (slightly) over here is what I got in my box-

Cosmetics

Thumbs Up Rosa Nail Wraps

So this the “beauty treat”.. They’re quite nice nothing amazing and nothing particularly autumn/winter related! Will probably save them and use them in spring time as I think they are more suited to that season.

Lord & Berry Silhouette Neutral Lip Liner

I do like L & B so I’m really looking forward to trying this out as it will be a beauty staple if it works and you can use it with any lipstick colour! Full size this is £10 which I may consider paying if it is good!

Skincare

Absolution La Creme de Teint 

This is a tinted moisturiser / BB cream type product you should apply after moisturiser which gives a smooth complexion without foundation. It looks a nice light colour which will suit me as you can see below but I don’t know about anyone who is blessed with a darker complexion!? It smoothed well on my hand and has a nice smell to it however I’m dubious as to whether the perfume might be too harsh for my skin. I will keep you posted! £35 for a full size however is so expensive I shan’t re-buy unless it is some type of amazing product!

Delarom Creme Aquaconfort 

This is supposed to sooth and hydrate your skin from the first use which sound a big claim and perfect for the winter so I can’t wait to give this a go. It uses almond, apricot oils and vitamin E. Again this is £34 so I won’t be buying this either.

Haircare

Number 4 Lumiere d’Hiver Super comb Prep & Protect 

This is apparently a does-it-all wonder product! It straightens, repairs, de-tangles and tames flyaways. So as you probably know by now I struggle with my hair so I’m looking forward to testing this out! If this is good enough I may consider £20 for a full size as it claims to do a lot of things so it will be a miracle if it works!

Body

Beauty Protector Beauty Cream Body Lotion

Ugh boring! Body lotion to me is not a treat and this is a very boring product that doesn’t excite me. It’ll get shoved in my travel bag for use when I’m away no doubt. Birchbox seem to love this brand but I am getting bored of it now.

I have to say I’m rather disappointed with this box and if BB don’t step it up next month I can’t see me extending my subscription when it ends in Jan.
