The ongoing lockdown and beauty salon closures has meant adapting to DIY beauty treatments at home. One of my DIY tries during lockdown has been the Eylure Dybrow Eyebrow Dye Kit in Dark Brown to tint my eyebrows. I’ve tried it a couple of times so I thought I’d document my thoughts and experiences of using it.

If you read my Lockdown No Makeup Beauty Heroes post then you will have seen I’ve been using Glossier Boy Brow* to shape and fill my brows on a no makeup day. I love having a bit of colour to my eyebrows even when I don’t wear makeup (which is everyday at the moment!) but I was getting through quite a lot of it, so I thought I’d give the Eylure Dybrow Eyebrow Dye Kit* a go to tint my brows without having to use extra product.
I use the Dark Brown colour which isn’t as dark as you’d think, it goes with my pale complexion and blonde/dark blonde hair perfectly. It’s a very similar colour to my Blonde Glossier Boy Brow*.
How to use the Dye Kit
Make sure you read the instructions first, but in a nutshell – to use the eyebrow tint you have to mix five drops of the mixing liquid with 2cm of the coloured dye and mix it up. I find using 3cm of dye and mixing it with the brow brush included is the perfect combination – you need to make sure it fully mixes into a paste.
Don’t use anything else to mix it with – the first time I tried it I used a cotton bud and it soaked all the product up and my application only last around five days.
Before applying, apply some vaseline to the skin around your eyes at the edge of the brow hair to prevent the dye colouring the skin.
Once the dye is mixed, use the brow brush to brush the dye onto your brow hairs, taking care not to get it on the skin. I find leaving it for 15 minutes is the ultimate time. It will go super dark whilst it develops, but it won’t stay this way! After the time has passed, wipe it clean with a water dampened cotton pad.

After leaving the dye on for 15 minutes, I find the dye gives a great and even tint to the brows which means I don’t feel the need to use my brow gel every day. It won’t fill in gaps obviously, as there is no hair for it to cling to, but it’s a great tint and it gives my brows effortless depth without any effort. Each application lasts me about a week, which is way less than it says on the product, but for Β£6.50 and 12 applications worth of product, dying my brows once a week isn’t so bad!
