The most popular shade in the Urban Decay world, now has it’s own palette, and it’s no wonder everyone is going crazy for it. Me included. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the Urban Decay Backtalk Palette, so I ordered it on the limited pre-release cos lol I have no self control. Pink shades are my weakness and the shade Backtalk was a deal breaker on it’s own. So let me give you all the details on the Urban Decay Backtalk Palette.
Backtalk Palette Details
The Urban Decay Backtalk Palette comes with two sides – one with eight eye shadows and one with four face powders and a magnetic mirror sits snugly in the middle.
Packaging of the Backtalk Palette
The packaging of the Backtalk Palette is cardboard so there’s no extra weight from the fact that there are two sides to the palette. It still has a little weight behind it but the cardboard ensures it’s kept to a minimum. Each side of the palette shuts with a magnetic closure and the mirror sits in the middle spine in the same way. The rose and mauve pink shades of the palette decorate the packaging with a marble print with Backtalk mirrored in smooth raised lettering and I am SO here for it.
Eye shadow shades of the Backtalk Palette
The Backtalk Palette eye shadow shades include three metallic, two satin shades and three matte:
3 Sheets – pale pink-nude matte
Bare – light pinky-peach satin
Curve – metallic rose shimmer with silver micro-glitter
Attitude – metallic red-copper
Backtalk – soft rosy mauve matte
WTF – reddish brown matte
Shade – deep fuchsia satin
180 – metallic brown-red
Double Take – rich mauve with slight shimmer
Low Key – pink-peach
Cheap Shot – medium pink-nude
Party Foul – light pink-nude shimmer
Face Powder Shades of the Backtalk Palette
The face powder side of the Backtalk Palette includes two blush shades and two highlighters:
Blush –
- Cheap Shot – medium pink-nude
- Double Take – rich mauve with slight shimmer
Highlight –
- Low Key – a pink peach
- Party Foul- a beige bronze shimmer.

Pigmentation of the eye shadow shades
I’m nothing if I’m not honest and to be honest, the pigmentation of the eye shadow shades weren’t what I was expecting compared to the Naked Heat palette. There’s a fair bit of fall out of the powders too, but with a couple of goes in with the colour it builds up nicely and looks lush. Both the mattes and the shimmers needs a couple of application to really show up.

The blushers are SO pigmented and you really need to go in with a light hand otherwise you’ll be looking like a rag doll. The highlighter shades don’t pack as much hunch and create a subtle glow which is perfect for day time highlight.
Application and lasting power
The formula of the eye shadows last really well and look just as good at the end of a long work day as it did in the morning and they blend easily on the lid. The blusher shades need a light hand but last well and the highlighter shades apply really well and last well too.
Price and purchase
The Backtalk palette costs the usual £39.50 and is available only on the Urban Decay website at the moment. The palette is set to be released in stores sometime this month (June). The usual Naked palettes that are £39.50 have 12 shadow shades, whereas Backtalk has eight eye shadow shades and four face powders which are a much larger size than eye shadow pans so actually you’re getting good value for money in comparison, especially considering you get a good removable sturdy mirror included. If you love mauve shades, and want a travel friendly convenient palette, then this is the palette for you.
Overall
Do I love this palette? No, it wasn’t as good as I was expecting. Do I love how it looks? Absolutely it’s so pretty and I could take and stare at pictures of it all day. Do I regret buying it? Maybe I could have waited for reviews on it, but overall I’m glad I had it as I think I would have got it either way! I’ll definitely take it away with me next time I go anywhere as it’s an eye shadow palette, cheek powder and mirror all in one.

I’ve been waiting for this palette for months to be released in the UK! I’m a fan of subtle shades so the fact that this applies lightly and can be buildable makes it ideal for me. Agreed on how pretty it is too! xx

This palette looks so gorgeous, the shades are amazing!! I totally can tell what you mean about the pigmentation from the photos, they didn’t seem to pay off as well as other palettes and don’t look as vibrant X

I really enjoy how versatile this double palette is. The rosey tone are gorgeous – the eye shadow shade in Attitude looks intense! Too bad you don’t love it as much as you though you would. I guess they all can’t be winners…!
