Barry M were one of the first to release the “gel like” drugstore answer to salon gel nails. I’d seen these in the shops for a while and was a bit dubious as you pay upwards of £20 for a salon mani, but when I saw it on offer I had to give it a go.
I bought the Make Me Teal shade along with the top coat which it says you need in order to get the full gel effect.
There are a lot of polishes out at the moment that claim to be like gel varnish without the need for the UV Light and not all of them live up to the expectation.
I am pleased to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the Barry M one!
It went on very smoothly and two coats is enough for it to look nice and colourful.
The gel top coat makes it very shiny like the UV gel polish does which is more than I can say for some of the others claiming to do this!
It dried quite quickly and didn’t feel thick or clammy on my nails afterwards like some polishes can do.
It claims to work by the natural daylight drying them instead of UV light which to me sounds like you need to do it outside but I did mine inside in the evening and it dried just fine.
I did my nails quickly before a night out and they had chipped on the ends a bit by the end of the night but they were still nice and shiny the next morning.
For the price you pay its definitely a purse friendly alternative to the real UV gel nails!
I will definitely be looking to purchase some more colours in the range!
Has anyone else found a good gel effect nail polish that lived up to its hype? I’d love to hear from you with any others to try!
Thank you so much for reading!
