I love brunch I think it’s a great meal and definitely a fab option with friends, but I hadn’t yet found a place that really wow’d me for brunch – until now.
I spent a weekend in London with my best friends recently and stayed with one of my friends who lives in North London about ten minutes from Crouch End. She works there so we decided to head over there for brunch on the Sunday morning.
We decided on The Haberdashery after browsing the menu and found something nice for everyone, but it was even better when we got there!
The Haberdashery is a super cute café with the cutest kitsch and vintage style interior just off the Crouch End high street.
The inside is decorated so nicely with pastel walls laden with bunting, shelves of mismatched tea cups and tea pots and quote plaques and the tables each have a cute old fashioned lamp to finish off the look.
Underneath the front desk is rows and rows of sweets and they have fruit and freshly baked cakes and bread on display. Being the girly girls that we are it took us ages to finally stop cooing at how cute it was inside.
Coffee was served in a little bowl with a pretty pattern swirled on top and tea came in a tea pot and a strainer to strain the leaves. I had an iced coffee which was so tasty.
The choice for brunch is endless and there is an option for everyone. Each of us like different types of breakfast and we were all spoilt for choice. One of us really likes cereal for breakfast, one prefers things on toast like poached egg or avocado and two of us love cooked breakfast.
So one of us had the oats yoghurt and fruit, one of us had a cooked breakfast with homemade hash browns which were amazing, one of us had a sausage and halloumi baguette and I had a baguette with halloumi and fried egg.
Halloumi for breakfast is the most amazing thing ever and it was SO good and I want to petition for everywhere to do this. The baguette was fresh and just the right amount of crunchy and everything was so beautifully done.
We also shared the other most amazing thing in the world ever – a bread pot. This is a terracotta pot of freshly baked bread baked with carrot and spinach and it was nicely crisped on top and inside it was so fluffy and light and holy crap it was the nicest thing ever.
I wanted to buy loads and take them home! They also did muffins in terracotta pots which were equally as fluffy inside and really tasty.
Everything was really reasonably priced and the service was very good considering it was super busy and there were three people working. It’s a small family run café and they’ve pulled it off so well.
The wait wasn’t very long at all and the food was all cooked fresh. I wish it was closer at home so I could go every Sunday!
Have you tried it at the Haberdashery? Definitely go next time you’re in North London! What’s your favourite place for brunch? Let me know in the comments below!
