Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is constantly raved about in the bloggersphere, every man and his dog were applying this lotion to their spots.
Spots are something I’ve always had trouble with and I struggle to find products that actually work for me. So I ordered it to see what the fuss was all about, because who doesn’t want a product that claims to work miracles on spots.
It’s unlike any other spot treatment I’ve ever come across, and after trialling it for some time, I’m finally going to give my ten cents on the product.
PACKAGING
The packaging of this is a little glass bottle with a plastic perforated screw top lid. I love the MB branding it reminds me of a 1920s apothecary with the green writing against a white background. It definitely sets it apart from other skincare brands!
This product is a strange one and like I said one I’ve never seen before. The liquid itself is a clear liquid which sits above a thick pink sediment.
HOW TO APPLY
Your instinct tells you to shake it up and apply right? Wrong! Do not shake it! You dip a cotton bud into the pink sediment and apply that to your spots and leave it overnight.
You know when you have chicken pox and your mum covers you in that pink calamine lotion? You kinda look like that except on a much smaller scale! There is definitely a reason this is used at night time only!
CLAIMS
The description of this claims to dry out surface blemishes and balance oil on the skin.
DOES IT WORK?
I found when I applied this to angry red spots or whitehead blemishes, I’d wake up the next morning and the spot would look exactly the same as when I applied the product.
However, despite the fact that the product does specifically state not to apply to broken skin, whenever I pop a whitehead to get rid of the gunk (gross I know, soz) and then apply the drying lotion, the next morning the spot is nicely dried up and just heals like a scab rather than a nasty white-headed spot.
As most of my problem areas are whitehead blemishes, this works a treat when I want to get rid of them.
I know you shouldn’t pop spots, but I have to get rid of the white inside and when I do, I know this product will work wonders for it the next day.
BUY IT
This bottle costs £16 for 29ml. The bottle are now plastic rather than glass as it was when I purchased which makes it more lightweight and less likely to smash should you drop it or accidentally knock it off your dressing table (which I totally don’t do all the time..)
Considering how many hideous spots I get and how long I’ve had my bottle for, I’ve barely touched the surface of the product so for me this was a great and well worth it investment.
You can buy it here from Beauty Bay*

I have barely used this since I did my review, I couldn’t deal with how dry and flaky it seemed to make them! and the popping defied the point for me!
