I’ve often searched for a dupe for Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream and been met with hardly any results. The Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream is such a cult favourite, and for good reason, but it’s quite pricey so if I can save some money on something similar, I will! When the Revolution Ginseng Eye Cream caught my eye with it’s orange pot and “brightening” description, I had to try it out and see how it compares as a dupe for Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream.

I know that Revolution are renowned for their dupes and not everyone is okay with that and that’s fine, but if you, like me, want to see if there is a cheaper alternative to the much loved Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream, keep reading!
Packaging comparison
As you can see the Revolution Ginseng Eye Cream has a bright orange pot, whereas the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream has more of a muted darker orange colour. The Revolution has the branded “R” embossed on the lid whereas Origins is plain, and the labels are both very representative of the brands aesthetics but you can see the Origins one is more printed onto the pot whereas Revolution is stuck on so frays over time. Both sizes are 15ml so have equal amounts of product. I think in terms of looking more luxury, Origins pips it for me there.
Score – Origins 1 : Revolution 0
Formula comparison
In terms of formula, these two are very different – the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream has a thick peach coloured formula with obvious shimmer particles in, whereas the Revolution Ginseng Eye Cream has a thin creamy coloured formula that looks slightly pearlescent if you look closely. Again, the Origins version wins for me there as the formula is a lot nicer and more luxury.

Ingredients comparison
Origins:
Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream contains: Vitamin C which helps visibly reduce dark circles, Niacinamide for brightening under eyes and energizing skin, Panax Ginseng & Caffeine which supports natural skin cell energy to help revive a radiant look and Chicory Root which helps grab moisture and helps lock it into skin. The product description says it brightens and depuffs.
Revolution:
Revolution Ginseng Eye Cream contains: Ginseng which is believed to have brightening and refreshing properties, Niacinamide which provides further brightening and helps to even skin tone, Shea Butter to soften and condition skin to prevent dry patches and dullness, and Glycerin which draws water into the skin for extra hydration. The product description says it brightens and illuminates.
I feel like the Origins formula has more luxury ingredients that have qualities much more conducive to the brightening and covering dark circles goal, plus some actual skincare benefits.

Results comparison
Origins:
The results of the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream on the eye are really brightening – dark circles are masked and the eye area looks brighter in general due to the peachy colour of the product working as a colour corrector as well. It hydrates the skin around the eye and sinks into the skin really well, drying down super quickly.
Revolution:
The Revolution Ginseng Eye Cream does brighten under eye but the effects aren’t as strong as Origins, especially as the formula is more of a cream colour so there are no colour correcting abilities but it does have the illuminating effect the product description suggests. It is hydrating but takes a while to dry down due to it having quite a thin, almost runny formula.
Score – Origins 1 : Revolution 0
Price comparison
The Revolution Ginseng Eye Cream comes in at a bargain £8 on boots.com, as you can see here.* The Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream is a lot higher priced, at £26 on boots.com, here.* Whilst there is an obvious price difference here, the Origins option isn’t actually too high of a price for a premium eye cream, compared to some other brands – for example the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème comes in at £35 so almost £10 more than the Origins option.
Score – Origins 0 : Revolution 1
Overall winner
So the total score out of 5 is 4 : 1 to Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream* – overall the formula works harder, feels better quality and has a more brightening and dark circle concealing effect. So sadly, I haven’t find an exact dupe for Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream, as the real deal is by far the best!
I will say though that if you are on a budget, the Revolution Ginseng Eye Cream is still a good product and not bad at all – it does the job and for only £8 it’s a bargain so I would still recommend this if you are after a more affordable option!
Have you tried either of these? What did you think? If you’ve found any other dupes for the Origins Ginzing Eye Cream, let me know!
