The first whisper of winter is here which always warrants a change in beauty routine. For me its moisturise, berry and wine coloured make-up and lots of glitter and sparkle!
Here my winter essentials list –
Moisturiser
For the day – Boots essentials moisturising cream cucumber
This super budget friendly pot (£1.50 and it’s always on offer) is great to keep your skin hydrated in the cold months. It’s thick enough to provide sufficient moisture but thin enough that your skin drinks it up and it doesn’t sit there greasy.
For night – Soap and Glory Speed Plump Overnight Miracle Moisture Mousse
The texture of this is super light and fluffy and feels light on your skin and non-greasy but its super hydrating and it smells amazing! Great for overnight maintenance on that pesky dry winter skin. I will be doing a full review on this soon so watch this post! This is £12 from boots and one pot lasts ages as you don’t need much for your hydrating fix.
Golden Highlighter
Winter calls for warmer tones and that for me means a nice gold highlight rather than a light white/silver one that for me is summery! This Kiko Dazzling Highlight in rose gold is a gorgeous pink gold highlight and the creamy stick is really blend-able. I love the Christmas style packaging too as it’s from the Kiko winter collection. At £6.90 for one stick it is affordable.
Dark lipstick
Berry or wine reds scream winter so darker lipsticks are always park of my winter makeup bag. I love Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Dark Night Winter Oops – a gorgeous purple shade that isn’t drying on the lips. It’s affordable at £6.49 and always on offer.
Lip scrub
Dark lipsticks can be high maintenance so it’s important you take care of your lips to ensure your lipstick is applied smoothly. I am in love with this Lush Mint Julips Chocolate Chip lip scrub. Apply every morning after washing the face or before applying lipstick to ensure soft application. Very worth the £5.50 price tag.
Tinted lip balm
I love lipsticks but they can dry my lips out and this is extra bad during the winter months! Even copious amounts of lip scrub just sometimes doesn’t cut it so for day time especially tinted lip balm is my handbag essential. You still get colour it with the added moisture injection to keep your lips soft. I love Carmex Moisture Plus lip balm with a nice red tint. It has the moisture of the traditional Carmex pot but with the convenience of a stick with a touch of colour. Average about £4.49.
Glittery eyes
A must for the holiday season! Gold glitter is the perfect winter eye look for me. I love H&M Eye Colour-To-Go in Treasure Hunt it’s a gorgeous khaki dark gold mix and it looks gorgeous blended over the lids and under the eyes and its a bargain at £3.99.
Hand Cream
Hand cream is definitely essential for the winter months because the cold air dries hands out big time. I love Soap and Glory Hand Food because it isn’t greasy and dries quickly and smells nice! I also love the pump bottle because its super convenient and you can pop some on quickly before you head out the door. A little pricey at £7.00 but there are cheaper ones out there that will do the trick!
Candle
A winter candle makes cold nights in nice and cosy! Primark have an array of winter candles and I especially love this Winter Berry one with the detailed mirror finish. This was about £2.00 so a mega bargain.
