If you’ve been following my blog for a while you will know how badly I want to find an nail polish that lasts a while and doesn’t chip the second it’s applied.
Until now, I had never tried the nail polishes by Leighton Denny* when I was given the chance to choose two shades from the range to review.
It was so hard to narrow it down to two but with Spring in full swing I decided to go for some pastel spring shades.
COLOURS
Porcelain Doll is a really pretty peach toned nude that is perfect for Spring – it looks much peachier than in the photo but still a nude. To me this is the perfect kind of nude shade for spring time leading into summer.
3 Times a Lady is a romantic pastel pink which is the epitome of spring and beautiful cherry blossoms.
PACKAGING
The thick glass bottles are plain and simple apart from the brand name in capital letters down the side. The silver lid is encased in clear plastic which I think sets it apart from other polishes.
DESCRIPTION
The description of these polishes is that it is an advanced, premium formula, is easy to apply and is long lasting and chip resistant.
APPLICATION
Unfortunately the formula isn’t great to work with as its quite watery and doesn’t glide as easily as others and can go lumpy if you’re not careful with your application.
The brush is quite thin which also makes it harder to get a smooth kine at the cuticle and along the sides, I much prefer a fatter brush that fans over the whole nail.
The polishes are not as pigmented as I would have liked and it took three coats to get an opaque finish.
FINISH
The finish is super shiny and looks like a gel polish, despite not being pitched as containing gel like technology.
LASTING POWER
You all probably know by now a massive bug bear of mine is chipping on the first day of wear, although I feel like I must handle things far too harshly as no matter what I do I always chip my nails!!
So this did chip on the first day but only on my right hand. The following day I covered the chips and added a fourth coat and they looked good as new, which saved me from taking it off and re-doing it. This is something I’ve not had much success with using other varnishes.
PRICE
These are priced at £12 per polish, which if I’m honest (which I always strive to be) is a tad much for a polish that isn’t even 70% perfect. Although I do think the packaging sets it apart as a more luxurious nail brand in comparison to the drugstore.
You can get these from Look Fantastic and Marks and Spencer in a huge array of colours to suit everyone.
OVERALL
I think the fact that these colours are beautiful and have such a shiny gel-like finish outweigh the rest of the flaws this might have. Despite the thin brush I still managed a neat application and the fact that it tops up so nicely means the chipping issue isn’t as bad.

I’m with you on Leighton Denney, they have a really nice topcoat (but actually wouldn’t say it’s £15 nice!), but the colours have always chipped quickly on me or been streaky. Shame as like you said the packaging feels really luxe! xx

Mmm they do look gorgeous, the formula looks really nice and I love the colours you chose but I don’t know if I can justify the price it’s a hard one haha. Loved reading this review x

I have one Leighton Denny polish and I LOVE it. The shade is “Message in a bottle”.
I wish I could get that brand here more easily.
The 2 shades look great on you even though the formula isn’t your favourite. I love the clean, understated look.

The colours look beautiful so it’s a shame they’re not really up to the job. I certainly wouldn’t be happy to pay £12 for a polish that wasn’t AMAZING! Having said that, I did buy the Chanel on for £18 and really don’t like it, so it can’t be much worse than that!

Haha true thats a hella lot for a polish!! you have to try to know though! x

I love the pinky shade! I have tried these polishes before however and found they were so bad on me! I’d really recommend Essie polishes topped with Seche Vite (get it on amazon not instore! three bottles for £9!) – I can go all week without any chips! xxx

Ooh ok ill definitely try that thanks for the recommendation! xxx

Such pretty spring colours! Shame they chipped, but at least it was repairable with minimal effort, I love the way they look on the nails though!
