It is officially summer now in the UK and despite the sun not actually showing it’s face it is still rather warm and humid. The summer weather definitely calls for lighter foundations as heavy ones just weigh your skin down and leave you feeling sweatier than ever, not nice!
I always reach for lighter choices for my summer base and always ensure they include an SPF as we all know how important it is to protect your skin from those UV rays ladies!
Here are my top 3 summer foundation picks including both high street / drug store and high end choices –
First and foremost I need to mention Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. This is obviously the most expensive at £31 and one I only ever get as a treat but this is a great one for summer evenings and nights out as it is light weight and it does. not. budge. from your face. Despite being light it still provides full coverage without the heaviness. I’ve had this a good year or so now and it’s lasted me ages as I only ever use it for special occasions but definitely worth the investment!
Next up on the price scale at £14.50 is the No7 Stay Perfect Super Light. I have the shade Cool Ivory and it has an SPF 15 in it. This is a great light weight one for the day as it’s so light and provides a light – medium coverage but one that is still build-able. No7 have colour match services so it’s super easy to get your match. Plus if you look out for £3 of vouchers it’s even cheaper!
Last but not least at £7.99 is the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude. This one is a full coverage foundation with SPF 20 in it. It claims to last for 25 hours and although I’ve never had the need to test this theory, it has some lasting power and will last you til bedtime! The colour 100 Ivory is fine for my pale skin in summer time, not quite the palest shade and not dark either! It’s a great pick for a sunny day due to UV protection and the nude version isn’t as heavy as the original version. It will take some buffing to get an even look but nothing a Real Techniques buffing brush won’t do!
So these are my top 3 picks for a summer base! What foundations do you reach for in the summer? Do any of mine make your list? Let me know below!

This is a really nice selection of foundations. I’m glad you included products at different price points. The No.7 sounds like a good coverage amount for the summer!

I know a lot of people recommend the EL Double Wear original but I think I’d prefer the Light version. I should go try a sample!
Currently I’m really enjoying the Maybelline SuperStay foundation for summer time. It stays on really well, plus, the shade I picked up is a tad too dark for me so it does give me a bronzed look! 😛

The original Double Wear is my holy grail. I want to try the Light though to see how it compares. I might get a sample of it this weekend at the Estée Lauder counter.
