Happy new year! 2015 is over and done with and we have welcomed in a new year of 2016!
This year has been a good one for me – I finished my LPC (legal practice course, the compulsory course for Solicitors following your Law Degree) with a Distinction, started this lovely little blog in July to fill the void that studying left (which I never thought I’d say!!) and loved every second, started my job as a Trainee Solicitor, finally got to go on a holiday to the Big Apple NYC and saw many comedians and bands lives including McBusted twice and Ed Sheeran twice my absolute faves.
So far nothing exciting is planned for 2016 bar having to hand in my Masters dissertation but apart from that I can focus on growing my little blog and see where it takes me!
So without further ado lets take a look at my favourites for the past year-
Garnier Micellar Water
My most used discovery of 2015 and one I’ve replaced over and over again! It’s such a good and inexpensive way to remove make up and leaves the skin feeling super clean!
Makeup Revolution Palettes
MR is one of the brands I only discovered this year and I absolutely love it! Their eyeshadow palettes are amazing quality and value and last ages – I would buy these over high end palettes any day!
Maybelline Go Colossal Mascara
My go to mascara for volume! I always use this last on top of any mascara I use and have repurchased this many times. A firm fave in the mascara department!
Mac Lipstick in Velvet Teddy
Again I only really discovered MAC in 2015 and Velvet Teddy has to be my ultimate fave due to its versatility and ability to go with anything! I love the finish and its long lasting.
Eyelure Brow Gel
Something I am so grateful exists and one I have repurchased many times! A staple in my makeup bag and is an absolute brow saviour! Especially if you don’t have time to fill in the brows a slick of this can tide you over and tidy up in the mean time!
No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation
A firm fave foundation as its long lasting throughout the day, easy to blend and has a gorgeous matte finish without being drying! One bottle has lasted me ages and I will repurchase when it’s finished!
Real Techniques Brushes
Another 2015 discovery and I wouldn’t be without them now! I purchased both the face and eye starter packs and I’m so glad I did. They’re great quality as withstand lots of washing and usage!
Lush Lip scrub
Not pictured here as I forgot as it stays in my bathroom! This has definitely been my year of Lush discovery and this has been by far my most used. My favourite flavour is Mint Julep but Bubblegum comes in at a very close second! I use these daily and will repurchase when they run out!
Has anyone else tried these or chosen these as favourites of the year? Let me know below!
Thank you so much for reading!

I’m with you in the Makeup Revolution palettes. I own 4 eye palettes & a blush palette and have been quite impressed.

I’ve got 5 eye shadow palettes and the contour palette! I love them they’re so nice! Love the price too! 🙂 X
TheMakeupCase17 says
They’re a little more spendy here in the States at $10, but at Ulta we can use their $3.50 off $10 coupons and get them for $6.50 which is a MAJOR bargain for such good quality palettes. Their Unicorns Unite palette was one of my Best In Beauty 2015 picks (you can read that post on my blog).
sophiesbeautyonabudget says
Yeah that is a bargain! That’s a very similar price to here in the U.K.! Ooh I haven’t tried that one yet I’ll check out your post! Love the name of it I may have to make a cheeky purchase! 🙂 x

A little off topic but how did you find the Lpc compared to the law degree? I’m doing the course this September and I’m a little nervous!
sophiesbeautyonabudget says
The lpc is totally different to the law degree! The lpc is all practice so it’s what you’d be doing in practice as a solicitor in a law firm. I did mine at Nottingham Law School and some subjects you started at the beginning of a transition through to the end and in others they showed you the law you’d actually use. There was hardly any case law except for a few subjects where there were a few. The work itself wasn’t hard but there was a lot of it the volume is huge so you just have to make sure you manage your time properly and you’ll be fine! I was never behind but it can just be a bit overwhelming so make sure you stay on top of everything and you’ll be fine! It’s the most useful course you’ll do before a training contract it really prepares you! The law degree is pretty pointless tbh lol! Sorry for the essay haha 🙈 Any more questions please feel free to ask!! 😊 x

Oh wow I didn’t think it would be like that. I guess I have to be fully focused when I start! Do you think working and doing the lpc at the same time will be a bit too much? I don’t wanna leave my job lol. Thankyou so much for your detailed reply it was very helpful 🙂 x
sophiesbeautyonabudget says
If you’re doing the lpc part time a full time job would be doable but full time lpc id definitely say no! Unless it’s a part time job in which case the full time lpc and part time job could be ok – I had a Saturday job and worked extra during the uni holidays and was fine but nearer exams I didn’t take any shifts to focus on revision! As long as you time manage and plan ahead you’ll be fine! 🙂 no worries anything i can do to help let me know! 🙂 I know it can be daunting so it’s so helpful to talk to someone who’s been through it all! 🙂 X
