Shavata Brow Studio is not new to the brow game, but Shavata Singh, the pro behind the name, has expanded into John Lewis Nottingham, amongst many other cities around the UK. Shavata is an expert and a perfectionist, and trains each and every one of her brow artists the same way, so I was over the moon when I was invited to try the new Shavata Brow Studio at the new beauty bar in John Lewis Nottingham.
I don’t know about you but I tend to get in a bit of a rut when it comes to my eyebrows, and whilst trying to stick to the same old every day, getting a bit pluck happy. I knew my session at the Shavata Brow Studio in John Lewis* would be the push I needed to get out of it.
Shaista Ahmed was the wonderful beautician who attended to my unruly brows and boy did she do a good job. The premise around your visit to Shavata Studio is that you have an experience rather than an appointment.
You’re sat in front of a beautifully lit long mirror in a comfy chair and given a throrough consultation where you’re asked what you know about doing your brows, what you want to achieve and how to get there.
I was given a tint to make my eyebrows more defined without product, and she showed me the results to see if I was happy before removing them both, so you have the choice to go darker still if you’d like.
She then threaded my brows which I’d never had done before but was scared about how much pain it might cause, only to be pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t as painful as waxing! It feels like lots of tiny pin pricks for very short periods of time, so it never lasts too long which is always a bonus.
The precision with which my brows were threaded was incredible, and she gave them an amazing shape which really opened up my eye (both literally and metaphorically). She explained that I’d got a bit pluck happy on the ends and needed to grow them out so they’re even.
You know the phrase “eyebrows are sisters not twins”? Well Shavata studios even has that plastered on her walls as part of her beautiful decor. A girl after my own heart and words that made me feel a million times better about the fact that one is higher than the other!
Shaista showed me how to fill in my brows using their own wax kit, and lift them further with a matte highlighting stick that really defines the edges. She did it all whilst I held a mirror up to my face so I could see exactly what she was doing.
Shaista has said she’s turned many a customer on to Shavata brows already, despite not being there very long which shows how precise and good they are! Not a hair goes unmissed and they really help you to achieve your brow goals.
Not only was I treated to a tint and threading treatment, I was given a lovely gift box of Shavata goodies including their wax palette and brush, highlighting and defining stick and a pair of cute heart tweezers, all of which I can confirm are excellent products.
The prices are reasonable to say you get such excellent service, and it’s well worth a visit to your local branch.
Thank you so much to the lovely Shaista for 5* service, and James at John Lewis for my kind invitation.
*Treatment and products received in exchange for an honest review

This sounds like a great appointment. I love how they showed you it when you had a mirror so you could see what they were doing, makes it easier to do it at home. I’ve only really started to do anything with my brows recently and it’d definitely be helpful to have someone who knows what they’re doing showing me how to use their products.
