The sun has basically been non-existent throughout the whole of our English “summer” so for any chance of tan you need to look elsewhere.
I always find that fake tanning is the last thing on my to do list and when I’m rushing around (which, lets face it, is every time I go out) it falls by the wayside and I run out of time and end up embracing the pale.
So when I was asked if I wanted to try the Sunkissed Bronze Rapid Tan & Tone* the word “rapid” in the title got me very excited. Anything to save time and get that bronze quickly!
It’s worth mentioning straight away that all products by Sunkissed are made here in the UK and are free from parabens and both animal and vegan friendly.
HOW TO USE
So, for best results apply this with a tanning mitt in small sections. Leave on for as little as one hour, and up to 4 hours if you want a deeper tan. Rinse it off to reveal a nice tan. Sounds simple right?
To maintain the tan it is recommended you use the Sunkissed Gradual Tan (which I don’t have so can’t comment).
PACKAGING
The design is bronze metallic (so hard to photograph as the light shines on it so bad!) with orange and white writing.
The bottle has a mousse dispenser which you press to release the product. It’s fairly easy to control as it only dispenses so much depending on how much pressure you press down with.
When I first used this it shot out onto my carpet which now has a lovely brown stain so be warned – be careful when you first open it and don’t do it in your bedroom with a pink carpet like I did!
PRODUCT
It isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing product I’ve ever seen, I’ll just leave you with the photo below and you will see what I mean!
The product smells like coconuts, rather than your typical biscuit fake tan smell which is a welcome change as I can’t stand the smell of fake tan usually! Instead it smells like a holiday which makes it a pleasure to use.
APPLICATION
So I gave this a go with a tanning mitt after exfoliating the heck out of my legs (mainly ankles and knees, I have hideous knees!)
I used two pumps about the above size for each leg and made sure it was all evenly applied. Using a mitt allows you to rub it in with no streaks and the colour of the product means you can see where on the skin it’s been applied.
It dries within minutes and you can easily dress and walk around without worrying about it rubbing off.
RESULT
I tried leaving this on for one hour and then washing it off but unfortunately didn’t notice any results. You can see the product washing off in the shower, but the time wasn’t enough to give me any colour.
I tried it again, this time leaving it on for 5 hours before washing off and the colour was nice and natural – a hint of a tan that didn’t look like I’d used fake tan. The colour was streak free and looked lovely.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I would say this is a good product if you want a subtle natural looking tan but not a deep bronzed look.
This is £9.99 to buy, available exclusively at Superdrug.
