One of ColourPop’s newer ventures is the beautiful rose gold Lux Lipsticks. You know how much of a ColourPop fan I am so when this was on the cards I had to get my hands on some. ColourPop are known for their liquid lipsticks and eyeshadows, so when they venture into new territory I’m always intrigued. I ordered the Lux Lipstick in five different shades and have given them a good trial so I can review.
Packaging of the ColourPop Lux Lipsticks
The packaging of the ColourPop Lux Lipsticks is a gorgeous metal mirrored rose gold which have quite a bit of weight behind them, making them look and feel luxurious. The bullet twists up to reveal a scattering of embossed stars which is another luxe touch I wasn’t expecting. The lipstick itself has small grey stars across the entire tube and has the brand name across the bottom of the lid.
Formula and application
The formula of the ColourPop Lux Lipstick is creamy and soft, with a creamy satin finish. It feels so comfortable on the lips you don’t realise it’s there. The bullet applies nicely to the lips and is a nice shape and size, making it easy to stay inside the lines.
Lasting Power
As the finish is a satin matte, it does come off quite easily so you need to re-apply these every few hours, or after you eat. The one thing I did find with re-applying, is that it made my lips dry and flaky and the flaking was quite obvious, which is annoying. It’s more of a casual nipping to the shops kinda lipstick rather than an all day at work which requires re-applying lots of times type of lipstick.
Colours in the Lux Lipstick range
There are SO many colours in the luxe lip range including greens, blues and purples! There is literally a colour for everyone in the range, you can’t go wrong. I got the shades Uno Mas, Stone Fox, Appy, Gallop and Lay Over as I wanted to try a mix of nudes for everyday, pinks for spring/summer and a darker shade for colder months.
Swatches of ColourPop Lux Lipsticks
Price
These cost a mere $7. That’s basically a fiver. So so cheap for a luxe looking and feeling lipstick.
Overall
I do feel like the formula could be better, but maybe it just didn’t suit my lips, who knows! I will continue to wear it adhoc but it isn’t a go to option for me. Maybe they spent more time on the packaging than the formula, but either way I think they’re worth a try and still a good effort from ColourPop. I love that they’re branching out into new things! Have you tried these? I’d love to know your thoughts!
Thanks for reading!
The packaging and the stars in the actual bullet are stunning! Do these apply or work any better for you with a balm underneath? x
Aren’t they gorgeous! i haven’t really tried that, I’ll give it a go thank you!! thanks for reading lovely xo
No worries, hope it makes a difference! x
That’s such a shame that it flakes, I get this with a couple of my Revlon lipsticks so I only wear them when I know it’s going to be a short day rather than if I’m all day in the office or out and about. I do have to say though, the packaging is gorgeous, especially the embossed stars on the lipsticks adorable! xx
